Committed to the wilderness standard
Northwoods Guide Co. has been in operation since 2006. We specialize in wilderness travel/fishing trips; we also offer youth-oriented trips. We are based out of the Ely, Minnesota area, home to one of the largest designated wilderness areas in the world the BWCA and Ontario’s adjoining Quetico Park. These two areas comprise over 5 million acres of road-less area and over 6,000 miles of canoe routes.
Our mission is to be more than just a fishing guide company; we provide fun, safe, recreational learning opportunities through wilderness travel. We strive to act as stewards for our collective resources and instill responsible and thoughtful values through examples of leadership. We also hope to raise interest in wilderness travel for younger generations so as to build awareness of the inherent value in our remaining wild areas…The power is in the kids
- Service - At Northwoods Guide Co. we take pride in offering personalized service to all of our clients, from customized trip options to simply learning every customers name, we are not just selling trips, we are promoting the value of an outdoor lifestyle and the culture of the north woods.
- Knowledge - Our guides and employees all have backgrounds in areas such as biology, ecology, earth science, and outdoor learning. We believe this adds depth and insight to our trips and services.
- Our Gear - We use only top of the line gear for everything all the time, no exceptions.
- Values- We feel that living and working in a wilderness setting is an excellent opportunity to help instill appreciation and respect for our natural resources in others. Wilderness ethics and the “leave no trace” policy are strictly followed by everyone at Northwoods Guide Co.
- Our facility - We hope to be running Northwoods Guide Co. completely off of solar and wind power and be entirely off-grid by spring 2010, and because we operate our trips almost completely in designated “Non-Motor” zones, we do not use much fossil fuel. We also try our best to serve only food products that are locally grown and/or fair trade and responsibly packaged.
